Nonequilibrium Quantum Fields and the Classical Field Theory Limit

چکیده

We calculate the far-from-equilibrium dynamics and thermalization both for the quantum and the classical O(N)–model. The early and late-time behavior can be described from the 2PI–loop expansion for weak couplings or the nonperturbative 2PI–1/N expansion of the effective action beyond leading order. A comparison with exact simulations in 1+1 dimensions in the classical limit shows that the 2PI–1/N expansion at next-to-leading order gives quantitatively precise results already for moderate values of N . We derive a criterion for the validity of the classical approximation and verify it by comparing far-fromequilibrium quantum and classical dynamics. At late times one observes the expected deviations due to the difference between classical and quantum thermal equilibrium.

Nonequilibrium quantum fields from first principles

Calculations of nonequilibrium processes become more and more possible in quantum field theory from first principles. There has been important progress in our analytical understanding based on 2PI generating functionals. In addition, for the first time direct lattice simulations based on stochastic quantization techniques have been achieved. The quantitative descriptions of characteristic far-f...

Simulating nonequilibrium quantum fields with stochastic quantization techniques.

We present lattice simulations of nonequilibrium quantum fields in Minkowskian space-time. Starting from a nonthermal initial state, the real-time quantum ensemble in (3 + 1) dimensions is constructed by a stochastic process in an additional (5th) "Langevin-time." For the example of a self-interacting scalar field, we show how to resolve apparent unstable Langevin dynamics and compare our quant...

The advent of relativistic heavy-ion collision experiments as well as rapid progress in cosmological observations triggered an enormous increase of interest in the dynamics of quantum fields out of equilibrium. Much progress has been achieved for systems close to thermal equilibrium using (non-)linear response techniques or with effective descriptions based on a separation of scales in the weak...

In this paper we try to formulate the Berezin quantization on projective Hilbert space P(H) and use its geometric structure to construct a correspondence between a given classical theory and a given quantum theory. It wil be shown that the star product in berezin quantization is equivalent to the Posson bracket on coherent states manifold M, embodded in P(H), and the Berezin method is used to...

D branes in 2 d string theory and Classical Limits

In the matrix model formulation of two dimensional noncritical string theory, a D0 brane is identified with a single eigenvalue excitation. In terms of open string quantities (i.e fermionic eigenvalues) the classical limit of a macroscopically large number of D0 branes has a smooth classical limit : they are described by a filled region of phase space whose size is O(1) and disconnected from th...
